Our Story

Ten years, one city

Sai Creation has spent the last ten years working out of Kolkata — the same city where every sari we sell is sourced, woven and finished. We work in retail and wholesale, but the craft behind each piece has never changed: hand-processed raw material, handled by local artisans, start to finish.

We didn't set out to build a large operation. We set out to keep a tradition alive — jari cotton weaving, stitch-and-burn work, and hand-painted Tussar silk — the way Kolkata's artisans have always practised it, and to bring it to homes and shops beyond the city.

How Every Sari Is Made

From thread to finished piece

Two things happen before a Sai Creation sari ever leaves Kolkata — and both are done by hand.

Sourcing the raw material

We source hand-processed raw silk, cotton and Tussar yarn — the same care that goes into weaving starts here, at the raw material stage.

Handcrafted by local Kolkata artisans

Local artisans in Kolkata take the material from there — weaving, stitching, dyeing and finishing every sari entirely by hand, in the same city where it began.

Our Techniques

Three crafts, one tradition

Depending on the fabric and the finish, our artisans work in one of these traditional techniques.

Handloom cotton woven through with fine zari thread for a refined, everyday-to-festive finish.

A traditional cut-work technique, hand-stitched and finished with careful, controlled burning for texture and detail.
